Where’s Winter?

Here in Applachia …

land of heavy snowfalls, frost, rime ice and mistletoe

winter seems to have passed us by returning to Spring

daffodils and irises are sprouting through the brown, soggy ground

record rainfalls, fog and plenty of clouds

Where’s winter asks the worms as they squirm along the pavement looking for their home in the darkness of the earth

Where’s winter asks the fish in the pond as they swim around, confused by warm temperatures, sunshine, short days and rain

Where’s winter asks the trees as they sway back and forth confused by the winds of an early Spring…instead of Winter’s frozen ground

Where’s winter asks the farmers as their fields begin to sprout

Where’s winter asks I as I look about?

Year ends – New beginnings

I’m often reminded that each day I have a choice to begin again – anew – to make amends where needed – that there’s so much to be grateful for – there’s always something to give back to people – the planet – that something is as simple as a smile – a thank you – it’s love in every form of kindness and respect to another human being, mother earth, animal, flower, tree, stream. Pick up trash, recycle, decrease use of plastic and anything else that will not decompose in a landfill – cook more – share what you have – care for self and loving self is NOT selfish. This year as in years past, I create a list of prayers and intentions for myself and those I love before the year ends, and at the stroke of midnight, I walk into the New Year of New beginnings with list in hand and a heart full of all that I would love to happen for myself, others, our planet, my community and the universe trusting that the God of my understanding hears me always and answers my requests in His time.

Happy, Peaceful and Healthy New Year to all!

New Beginnings

Advent

time to reflect

be of service

take gentle care of self

think of others

go within

breathe

pause

pray

breathe again

open eyes, ears

connect with heart

listen

walk

repeat

even in the darkest hours, the light is still flickering within

#Dreams #Passions #SelfLove

Quote shared: Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars.to change the world. — Harriett Tubman

I’m full of dreams, passions, compassion and art. Self-love, I’m only beginning to understand how necessary it is to fully love self in order to bring those dreams to fruition. As Harriett Tubman so beautifully states, Every dream begins with a dreamer.

All Dreams are Possible. One must just begin!

Dream Journaling

Inspiration comes in many forms. Writing can be spurred by a simple word, a melody, the light, sound, or dream.

Dreams, like thick clouds, roll in and what emerges is only really to known to the unconscious. Continue reading

Autumn morning

a time for personal reflection, when the morning light is dim, crickets are all I hear, until the wind begins, once the sunlight appears, colours come to life again….

SIGNED - Autumn Morning

Where’s the wind?

Juliet's Window II

it’ s October, and I’m wearing sandals and short sleeves…

Where’s the wind…

the door’s wide open and there’s no breeze

Where’s the wind….

the trees are asking and so are the leaves…

Where’s the wind…

she asks to lull me to sleep on a warm October’s eve

Silencio…listen…

… crickets and the rumbling of the dishwasher  must do

Moon Flower

Signed - Moon Flower

September moon shone brightly upon the lawn

tiptoeing outside in the evening dew

one ginormous Moon flower blossom beams bright white as it greets the night for a one night show

oh what a beautiful sight…

…soft, luxurious, delicate, velvety blossom – divided by soft lines of gold nectar to reveal a starfish hidden within

its debut – always unknown – like a babe born into this world

yet, the Moon flower’s purpose is to razzle dazzle like a magician – and put on a show – and a show it did put on – shining brightly through the night

thank you Moon Flower – until we meet again – good night!

he wrote once …

Signed Window Light

where does love go when the light goes out

a question to ponder

the answer, I believe is under the covers

faith steps in  and out

a dance, a rhythm of breath and sound

where does love go when the lights go out

love is always present

just whisper and listen

I’m here under the covers

Mourning Dove Call

The mourning dove sings in late July – the air thick with humidity as the waterfall gurgles

a song she sings  sounds like an announcement that  summer days will soon end, and school begin

cobwebs form in windowsills and high up in the doorway where spiders await an evening meal

the sweetness of the Dove’s call reminds one to take stock of what we have,  to be fully present, in the here and now, eyes open, ears too – look around and breathe in and breathe –  listen out loud

birds clamor to join  her – Cardinals, Blue Jays, Finches, Frog – All are present for the Dove’s roll call
