Fine?

Monday

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

Abscess discovered – root canal scheduled – yikes!

How’s your day

Fine you say

By the way, what does ‘fine’ mean

Not rough – boring- painful – just like yesterday

My day began and ended with an abscess

Now, it ends with a sigh – a record – relaxation and perhaps a giggle

It will not end with Fine

This Tree – Anita’s Tree was cut down from the Biltmore Grounds and a Sapling was planted. I wish the Sapling well. And I bid this beautiful Meadow Oak farewell.

Dreaming….

flying without wings

through the air

through the trees

through a cloud

over the pond

glimpse the frog

land on a log

flying side by side with lady dragonfly

turning stones in the creek

scoop one up and fly it home

fly so fast

land on land at last

Dreaming.

Health

Joy

Life’s purpose

All collide to form an artistic mosaic

Earth is returned to dirt and light

Moon and Sun

Birds’ song and flight

Seasons once present – beckon to return

Winter

Spring

Summer

Fall

Love’s root – the Oak

Its branches – the birds’ song

All combined, reach up to the Heavens – to the One who resides there

All Hearts connected through an invisible thread – Love

Listen to Love’s guidance

attentive presence is all that’s required

Cloudless

is the sky

blue is the heaven

new is the day

fresh is the air

wind in her hair

song in her heart

Transition

that place in-between

not knowing where you’re headed

and what will be

a place where only Faith can lead

a time for prayer and meditation

served with a glass of mint tea, sunshine and gurgling water

company visits in the form of an occasional hummingbird, butterfly or dove

Transition calls for Faith in the unknown and unseen

for the window to open

space for fresh air and breath

Time to let go and Believe where one will be led will be safe and free

Where’s Winter?

Here in Applachia …

land of heavy snowfalls, frost, rime ice and mistletoe

winter seems to have passed us by returning to Spring

daffodils and irises are sprouting through the brown, soggy ground

record rainfalls, fog and plenty of clouds

Where’s winter asks the worms as they squirm along the pavement looking for their home in the darkness of the earth

Where’s winter asks the fish in the pond as they swim around, confused by warm temperatures, sunshine, short days and rain

Where’s winter asks the trees as they sway back and forth confused by the winds of an early Spring…instead of Winter’s frozen ground

Where’s winter asks the farmers as their fields begin to sprout

Where’s winter asks I as I look about?

Nightfall

he wrote once …

Signed Window Light

where does love go when the light goes out

a question to ponder

the answer, I believe is under the covers

faith steps in  and out

a dance, a rhythm of breath and sound

where does love go when the lights go out

love is always present

just whisper and listen

I’m here under the covers

Mourning Dove Call

The mourning dove sings in late July – the air thick with humidity as the waterfall gurgles

a song she sings  sounds like an announcement that  summer days will soon end, and school begin

cobwebs form in windowsills and high up in the doorway where spiders await an evening meal

the sweetness of the Dove’s call reminds one to take stock of what we have,  to be fully present, in the here and now, eyes open, ears too – look around and breathe in and breathe –  listen out loud

birds clamor to join  her – Cardinals, Blue Jays, Finches, Frog – All are present for the Dove’s roll call

A rainy day in May

Rain & Lilly

A rainy day in May

lasted all month long

with clouds and hail

winds and flooding

who knew a rainy day

could blow down trees

flood fields

and delay Spring

today the sun shone

today, now the 4th of June

there’s a saying in the mountains of Western North Carolina

if you don’t like the weather, wait a few moments, it will change

the rainy moment, turned into a day, into a month, the month of May.
