Year ends – New beginnings

I’m often reminded that each day I have a choice to begin again – anew – to make amends where needed – that there’s so much to be grateful for – there’s always something to give back to people – the planet – that something is as simple as a smile – a thank you – it’s love in every form of kindness and respect to another human being, mother earth, animal, flower, tree, stream. Pick up trash, recycle, decrease use of plastic and anything else that will not decompose in a landfill – cook more – share what you have – care for self and loving self is NOT selfish. This year as in years past, I create a list of prayers and intentions for myself and those I love before the year ends, and at the stroke of midnight, I walk into the New Year of New beginnings with list in hand and a heart full of all that I would love to happen for myself, others, our planet, my community and the universe trusting that the God of my understanding hears me always and answers my requests in His time.

Happy, Peaceful and Healthy New Year to all!

New Beginnings

#Dreams #Passions #SelfLove

Quote shared: Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars.to change the world. — Harriett Tubman

I’m full of dreams, passions, compassion and art. Self-love, I’m only beginning to understand how necessary it is to fully love self in order to bring those dreams to fruition. As Harriett Tubman so beautifully states, Every dream begins with a dreamer.

All Dreams are Possible. One must just begin!

Nightfall

he wrote once …

Signed Window Light

where does love go when the light goes out

a question to ponder

the answer, I believe is under the covers

faith steps in  and out

a dance, a rhythm of breath and sound

where does love go when the lights go out

love is always present

just whisper and listen

I’m here under the covers

Mourning Dove Call

The mourning dove sings in late July – the air thick with humidity as the waterfall gurgles

a song she sings  sounds like an announcement that  summer days will soon end, and school begin

cobwebs form in windowsills and high up in the doorway where spiders await an evening meal

the sweetness of the Dove’s call reminds one to take stock of what we have,  to be fully present, in the here and now, eyes open, ears too – look around and breathe in and breathe –  listen out loud

birds clamor to join  her – Cardinals, Blue Jays, Finches, Frog – All are present for the Dove’s roll call

A rainy day in May

Rain & Lilly

A rainy day in May

lasted all month long

with clouds and hail

winds and flooding

who knew a rainy day

could blow down trees

flood fields

and delay Spring

today the sun shone

today, now the 4th of June

there’s a saying in the mountains of Western North Carolina

if you don’t like the weather, wait a few moments, it will change

the rainy moment, turned into a day, into a month, the month of May.

In search of joy

Asking and receiving

through prayer and meditation

Noticing when it’s here

with eyes open

How to step into it

by dropping all else and being fully present in the moment

To recognize it

and open my eyes and heart wide

To feel it deep within my being

and stay with it as long as possible

To embrace it with my whole being

as I would any friend or loved one

As if … I were a child again

Morning Song

a bird’s call

i love mornings when the birds call

what are they saying – ‘there’s new food in the feeders’

‘it’s not raining, come quickeat while you can before the squirrels feast on these delicious sunflower seeds’

or are they announcing the dawn of a new day and just saying ‘good morning’

i love their songs, they bring a smile to my heart and urge me to rise and greet them as the darkness dissipates and turns gradually into day.

Lullaby of Spring to Summer

Lullabys are lazy and fluid – like a warm summer breeze or a slow moving river

  • – a summer breeze that ever so lightly ruffles the thin window sheers,
  • – or a slow moving river that barely carries the thick blanket of pollen to the ocean like a giant barge moving train cars through a canal in winter, not as fast as an inch worm.

Lullabys, like this summer breeze, sometimes brings with it a fragrant smell of honeysuckle followed by a hint of clover and wild roses. A smell that’s so intoxicating and memorable. That smell alone, whispers a lullaby that spring has become summer.

Remember the familiar lullaby that begins:

hush little baby, don’t you cry now sings….

honeysuckle and clover will soon visit to soothe your tired eyes

the sun shines through the sheers letting you know – you are not alone

hush little  baby, don’t you cry beckons…

the doves play outside your window, playing leap frog or piggy back over pillows

hush little baby, don’t you cry…

the river’s singing a whisper to sleep soundly, all is well, make a wish upon the fireflies and soon the night sky will light up like the 4th of July.

hush little baby, don’t you cry … close your eyes … wish upon a star … dry your tears — smell the the sky… and dream of fireflies on the 4th of July.

Grief

How can I live here with all this grief…

… with all these memories and little relief?

How can I live here without being?

How can I live here and still breathe?

Faith. Trust. A hug. A hand. A shared prayer.

… Just Believe – He answered, He appeared.
